[Cisspstudy] ATM card smart card of memory card?

Hi all,

 a quick questions while i am reading the shon harris all in one cissp book

ATM card belongs to memory card of a smart card ?

"Another example is an ATM card. If Buffy wants to withdraw $40
from her checking account, she needs to enter the correct PIN and slide the
ATM card
(or memory card) through the reader."

As far as i know - some atm card does have a built in chips ...? so it
should be  a smart card that able to process information.
