[Cisspstudy] Bridge Question

In the AIO 4th, page 546 in the section of the gateways, shon said :

 

"If a bridge were setup between FDDI backbone and an ethernet lan, the computers on the lan would not understand the FDDI protocols and frame formats"

 

In the Bridges section page 537, she stated that there is a translator bridge that translates protocols. 

 

Is this means that by defualt the bridge is  not translating protocols? and in the exam if the question is not explicitly saying it is "translator bridge" I should not choose translation as a feature of the bridge ? 

 

i.e :

 

Which of the following devices can connect FDDI network and ethernet network ?

1) Repeater

2) Bridge

3) Gateway

4) 2 and 3 

 

or 

 

Which of the following devices can connect FDDI network and ethernet network ?

1) Repeater

2) Bridge

3) Firewall
