Good day,
Security+ is a good exam to persue on your path to become a CISSP.
You can take the CISSP associate exam which is the exact same exam as the
CISSP but you do not get to become a CISSP until you have accumulated enough
professional experience.
I see no disadvantages but a lot of advantages to being able to show
potential employers that you are serious about security.
