Having some minor discrepancies while reading this chapter compared to
some notes I had taken and compared to Wikipedia :)
Fire Suppression systems:
Wet pipe: closed head system, with water in pipes. The only "detection"
method is the head itself that "detects" usually by the melting of a wax
"fuse". Each head operates independently.
Dry pipe: I understood them to be exactly the same, except that the
pipes were filled with a pressurized air (with a valve to keep pressure
low, but not zero normally, holding back high pressure water) to
mitigate the risk of water freezing in pipes. They are still a "closed"
head system with each head being the detection method and operating
independently. Is this true?
Pre-action has an extra precaution, it's dry normally, but a fire
detection event (other than the heads) fills the pipes with water. Also
the heads are "closed head" so they too have to open to a detection
event before a the system activates. If either occurs without the
other, then nothing happens.
Deluge: just relies on a "fire detection event" independent of the
heads. The heads are always open and a fire detection event will blast
water everywhere out of all heads simultaneously.
I just read page 473 in Chapter 6 and it says "Dry pipe systems reduce
the accidental discharge of water because the water does not enter the
pipes until an automatic fire sensor indicates there is an actual fire."
That sounds like it should be "pre-action" from what I understand.
Any pointers?

It is a packtpub.com book. I have purchased several books on Joomla and
Wordpress from them and they have been good.
